This is an exquisite example of a Thames Valley high back Windsor armchair, that is a feature in a farmhouse or country home living room or kitchen setting. Circa 1850.
The backrest has a pierced splat back with a lower diamond and upper star design.
The back splat is supported by a wonderfully curved upper backrest rail with turned spindles to form the backrest. With a beautiful open armrest design, supported by spindles and two curving front supports.
Leading down to a delightfully carved saddle seat, a lovely period feature for comfortable seating, or simply for a cushion.
Proudly stood on four outward splayed turned legs, connected by a H-frame stretcher that provides solid structure and support for this wonderful armchair.
This armchair displays a beautiful rich Ash & Elm patina to the hoop back and saddle seat, only seen in quality period furniture.
This Georgian armchair would add a touch of rustic warmth to the living, dining rooms, kitchen, or hallway settings.
