This is a gorgeous mid 20th Century Writing Bureau desk that would complement many antique styled dining, or living room or office settings. Circa 1960.
The beautiful mahogany fall front can be dropped to expose the quality mahogany interior. With a delightful gilt embossed brown leather desk top, that is supported by two pull out slats.
The striking interior has 8 small drawers with brass drop handles, and a lockable hidden central door. There are also two carved pillars that pull out the hidden side book storage drawers.
The bureau front displays a rich, warm mahogany patination. The front of the bureau has a smaller upper drawers, and three wonderful large spacious graduating drawers, perfect for storing documents, papers, books or memorabilia.
All of the drawers have two excellent matching figured brass handles with a central lock to the drawers. All the drawers lock with the same key.
The bureau is standing proudly on 4 solid feet, with a raised lower boarder surrounding the bureau.
Including a key that locks all of the front drawers.
The drop front will not stay locked.
The interior door previously opened with a key, but I seem to be struggling to open it now.
The interior door is locked shut, however, one of the keys was previously opening it..
Overall, this writing bureau is in excellent condition, with slight signs of use and veneer wear as to be expected from years of historical use.
The front left sliding drop front holder can go slightly deeper than the front.
There are obvious signs of historical use and wear to the leather tabletop (see photographs).
