This is a wonderful 19th century hall chair that displays many wonderful Victorian period features.
This striking backrest has a gorgeous cartouche and foliage upper cresting, finished with a carved beading.
The upper and lower backrails are both connected by turned and carved side rails, finished with a lower foliate carving.
The backrest has an upholstered green velvet back with a matching brocade boarder, surrounded by further carvings.
The backrest is held by the side bars which that lead down to form the solid back legs.
The chair has a comfortable and firmly sprung green velvet upholstered square seat, finished with matching brocade.
Proudly stood on turned front bulbous carved legs.
The front legs are connect to the back legs by a solid H-frame stretcher.
All of the feet are finished with excellent working ceramic castors.
This is an excellent carved chair that would excentuate the home living, or bedroom setting.
Overall this Victorian hall chair is in great antique condition, with minor signs of use and veneer wear, as to be expected from an item with age (see photographs).
There is a historical crack to the back rest, but this has no affect (see photograph).
