This is a late Victorian bedroom side chair that would have been used in many country home settings, from the dining room and parlor, to the bedroom or living room, and it was designed with comfort and style in mind.
This chair is fantastic with many beautiful period qualities, from the slat back rest design, to the elegantly tapered front legs.
The three slat backs are held between a solid upper and lower backrest rail. Connecting to the side rails, which lead down to form the backward curved solid square legs.
The back legs join to the front legs with a solid H-frame stretcher.
Standing proudly on two solid front square tapered legs, displaying the gorgeous rich mahogany patina to this chair.
With a large comfortable padded upholstered red and white stripped fabric seat, which can be removed from the seat frame.
Overall, this side bedroom chair is in excellent solid condition, with signs of use and veneer wear to the frame, as to be expected from an item with years of age and use.
There are historical signs of woodworm to the frame and a leg foot that has been fully and professionally treated by the previous owner (see photographs).
There is also a slight crack to the back of the frame (see photograph).
There are staples visible to the underside of the upholstered seat.
