This is a delightful 19th-century writing desk is sure to add character to many period home offices or living room décor.
Featuring an elegant sliding slatted tambour desk cover that encloses the working surface, exuding quality period craftsmanship.
To the front of the tambour slats is a beautiful brass key hole, with hand holes to either side for easy access (there is no key present).
The slatted cover slides along grooves on the desk's edges.
The desk top leads down to two pedestal drawers, allowing the user to sit in between them comfortably. The pedesal drawers have 4 drawers to either side that are finished with gorgeous wooden handles. There is also a large central drawer, and 2 further sliding armrests to either side for support.
This writing desk displays a rich Oak patination that is sure to add warmth and charm to the home setting.
The desk top does not come apart from the lower drawers as it is one solid piece.
Overall, this tambour desk is in great condition, with slight signs of use and veneer wear, as to be expected from an item with years of use (see photographs).
There is a slight break to one of the sliding additions to the interior that has been repaired (see photograph).
