This is a gorgeous mid 20th Century ladies Writing desk that would complement many antique styled dining, or living room or office home settings. Circa 1950.
With a beautiful mahogany fall front, that is finished with a fantastic raised boarder.
The front of the desk drawers and the fall front have key holes and key, to keep the front of the desk locked safely. One of the drawer locks doesn't hold properly.
The front can be dropped to expose the quality interior with a useful writing desk top. The interior is flanked by two smaller drawers that are surrounded by pigeon holes, perfect for storing documents, papers, books or memorabilia.
The desk top is supported by two front pull out wooden supports.
The front of the bureau has three front drawers, one has a curved design. Underneath the drawers is a carved shell design, adding to the wonderful style. All of the drawers are finished with two striking figured matching metal drop handles.
The bureau stands proudly on 4 excellent cabriole legs, with carving to the knees and lower front design.
This is a charming vintage mahogany bureau that is sure to add a touch of country sophistication to the home interior decor.
Overall, this vintage writing desk is in great vintage condition, with signs of use and veneer wear as to be expected from years of historical use (see photographs) There is veneer damage to the top drawer, and to the lower drawer boarder (see photographs).
