Here we have a beautiful pair of 1850's original 'JRS Patent' Dining Chairs, stamped the makers marks to the back of the chairs.
The elegantly carved backrest has a spiraling design to the sides, with a fantastic bullseye carved splatback, leading down to form 2 backward splayed backlegs.
Another feature from James Reilly being the unique screwing back leg design to keep the back legs firmly attached.
Standing on two gorgeous hand turned bulbus front legs.
Both the chair seats have been reupholstered with a Chenille cream horsehair stuffing, that provides comfortable seating. The seating is held in place with 3 dowels.
An English pair of James Reilly Dining Chairs, adding such timeless and wonderful character, that could be used in the dining room, living room or kitchen setting.
Overall this antique pair of Chairs are in excellent condition, showing minimal signs of use and slight veneer wear, such a rare pare of 1950's chairs with classic design.
There is a slight crack to one of the backrest rails, aswell as to the inside of one of the legs, (doesn't effect functionality at all).
There are slight markings to the upholstered seating (see photographs).
