This is a gorgeous Jacobean styled Oak hall chair showcasing excellent carvings from the Victorian era. Circa 1890.
The wonderful high back displays intricate carvings of the leaf crest to the upper rail, with a beautiful back rest constructed from acanthus leaves, tall supports and carved side barley twists, joined by a lower rail.
With a solid square seat that has a carved floral design, and is adorned around the edge with further carvings.
Stood proudly on four barley twist legs, connected with solid H-framed barley twist stretchers, and finished on circular feet.
Displaying a wonderful rich oak patination to the chair, that highlights the charming carvings.
This striking hall chair would be perfect for a bedroom, guestroom, hallway, and dining room setting.
Overall this chair in great antique condition, with minor signs of use and age related wear, as to be expected from a pair of antique items.
There is a slight wobble but still structurally solid.
There are two minor signs of wood filler to the seat (see photograph).
