This is a gorgeous Edwardian walnut writing bureau desk that would excentuate a period home setting. Circa 1910.
Displaying a rich, warm walnut patination that add character to the home setting.
The gorgeous walnut drop front has a lock and key to keep the interior locked safely.
The drop front is finished with a boardering design to the front.
The fall front is held open by two hinged wooden supports, which extend as the desk is opened.
Opening the drop front reveals a fitted interior that is pushed forwards closer to the user. The interior consists of six pigeon holes and a lower ink well, useful for storing documents, papers, books and pens.
Above the fitted interior are two drawers with a central pigeon hole.
The interior drop front has a useful green leather writing area.
To the front of the desk there is a smaller upper drawer with a key and lock to keep any books or documents stored safely.
The front has two further lower graduating drawers, but these do not lock.
All of the drawers are finished with striking matching metal drop handles.
Standing proudly on four sturdy cabriole legs, with pad shaped feet.
Overall this walnut bureau is in great antique condition, with quality signs of general use and veneer wear, as to be expected from historical age (See photographs).
There are three signs of historical veneer damage to the front of the bureau (see photograph).
There is a historical damage to the drop front framing (see photograph).
The lower drawer can be pushed in slightly deeper than expected to one side (see photographs).
