This is a gorgeous Edwardian Writing Bureau Desk that displays timeless, quality features that are sure to impress in a period era home dining, living room or office settings. Circa 1910.
The desk has a rich mahogany patination, with excellent crossbanding and a beautiful oval desk front design, adding a wonderful charm to the home decor.
The desk front can be dropped to expose the quality leather gilt embossed desk work top. The striking interior has two small drawers, with 6 pigeon holes surrounding it, perfect for storing documents, papers, books or memorabilia. The desk is supported by two hinged slats that which extend when the front is pulled down.
The front of the bureau has a wonderful smaller upper drawer, and two larger spacious lower graduating drawers. All of the drawers are finished with a crossbanded design and with the original gorgeous antique metal drop handles.
Leading down this bureau stands proudly on 4 solid figured feet, that are finished with a lower raised boarder.
This is a charming Edwardian antique writing bureau that is sure to add sophistication and class to a living or home office setting.
Overall, this writing bureau is in great antique condition, with signs of use, veneer wear and marks, as to be expected from years of historical use (see photographs).
There is a key present, but the desk front and drawers do not lock.
There are visible signs of woodworm to the feet and back of the chest of drawers, but this has been fully treated by the previous owner (see photographs).
The drop front has a slight gap when closing, as the wood has slightly warped over time (see photograph).
There is a historical gap to the upper and lower back part of the pigeon holes (see photographs).
