This is a gorgeous Edwardian inlaid Writing Bureau Desk displays many beautiful and timeless features that are sure to complement a period era home dining, living room or office settings. Circa 1910.
The fall front can be dropped to expose the quality green gilt embossed leather desk work top. The striking interior has 6 small serpentine shaped drawers with pigeon holes above, perfect for storing documents, papers, books or memorabilia. The interior also has a wonderful hidden central door that is supported by reeded pilasters.
There is a lock to the front desk and first upper drawer, which the key can lock to keep your personal belongings safe.
The desk is supported by two pull out hinged slats that can be extended to hold the desk front open.
The front of the bureau has a smaller upper drawers, and three wonderful large spacious lower graduating drawers.
All of the drawers are finished with an inlaid design, raised boarders and the original gorgeous antique brass metal drop handles.
The desk has a charming mahogany patination to the front that adds a wonderful period charm to the home decor.
Leading down this bureau stands proudly on 4 solid figured feet, that are finished with a raised boarder.
Overall, this writing bureau is in great antique condition, with general signs of use to the desk top, and veneer wear as to be expected from years of historical use (see photographs).
There is a historical sign of woodworm to the lower drawer raised boarder, but this has been fully treated by the previous owner (see photograph).
There is a sign of historical damage to the leather work top (see photograph).
