This is a beautiful Edwardian Writing Bureau desk that would brighten many period settings, in an office, living room or dining room.
The beautiful fall front has an inlaid shell motif that truly highlights the quality handcraftsmanship to this bureau. The fall front can be dropped to expose the quality mahogany interior writing desk. The desk is supported by two pull out slats with fabric tops. The fall front does not come with any keys to lock the desk.
The interior has 2 small drawers with striking circular metal designed knobs. The drawers interior has gorgeous carved pigeon holes that are useful for storing documents, books, or papers.
The front of the desk has one smaller upper drawer and two wonderfully large, spacious graduating drawers. All of the drawers have striking figured brass drop handles, adding charm to this wonderful 19th Century Bureau.
The bureau is standing proudly on 4 solid feet, with a raised lower boarder surrounding the bureau.
The drop front highlights the gorgeous mahogany patination to this 19th-century Victorian writing desk.
Overall, this Edwardiam writing bureau is in great condition, with obvious signs of use and signs of general veneer wear as to be expected from years of historical use (see photographs).
The pull out left support is stiff when you pull it in and out.
There is a crack to the bottom right drawer (see photograph).
