This is a beautiful Hoop Tub back armchair with many handcrafted features, making for such a wonderful addition to many period styled home.
The armchair is an original Edwardian piece of furniture, indicated by the makers mark engraved 'GR' to the underside of the chair.
This armchair features many gorgeous inlaid designs surrounding the entirety of the chair, on the hoop back armrest, to the backrest supports, and even to the front legs. Such intricate and fantastic one-of-a-kind hand crafted detailing.
The hoop back makes for very comfortable armrests, held by nine inlaid steeple shaped supports and the two front curving armrests.
The elegantly curved armrests lead down to form the front two tapered solid square legs that are finished with additional square shaped feet. Complimented by the outward curved back legs.
The chair has a floral needlepoint fabric seating, that is firm for sitting.
This delightful Edwardian Armchair would add a touch of character and charm to many living, dining rooms, or bedroom settings.
Overall, this Edwardian armchair is in excellent antique condition, with slight signs of use and veneer wear to the side of the front legs, as to be expected from a chair with years of age.
There are four small breaks to the inlaid back slats, but they have a strong repair with glued by the previous owner, still a structurally strong chair (see photographs).
There are visible signs of the upholstered nails to the seat, and there is also a slight rip to the underside of the upholstery (as photographed).
