9ct Gold Victorian Albert Necklace with T Bar 16.5"
This chain retains its classic curb-link style, and represents a fine example of a Victorian Albert Necklace that has been carefully preserved and kept functional through later repairs. A timeless piece of jewellery with real history, perfect for modern adaptation as a Necklace often by women or as fashion accessories by men, or traditionally used with pocket watches.
It was originally crafted in the late 19th century by Charles Daniel Broughton (C.D.B.), a known Birmingham maker of quality watch chains and findings.
The hallmark “C.D.B” can be found on one of the clasps and on the T bar, confirming its Victorian origin.
Over time, the chain has been sympathetically maintained and repaired:
One clasp displays the maker’s mark G.F.I (Gold Force International, USA, post-1986), suggesting it was fitted as a replacement.
The chain itself is 375 9ct rose gold (tested and hallmarked)
The total weight is 11.4g.
This chain is in great antique condition with later repairs, one clasp replacement, consistent with continued use over 100+ years (see photographs).
