This is a gorgeous Victorian Writing Bureau desk that would brighten many period styled office, living room or dining room settings.
The beautiful mahogany fall front can be dropped to expose the quality gilt leather interior writing desk. The desk is supported by two pull out slats with fabric tops. The fall front does not come with any keys to lock the desk.
The interior has 2 small drawers with striking circular metal designed knobs. The drawers have pigeon holes to either side, useful for storing documents, books, or papers.
The front of the desk has one smaller upper drawer and three wonderfully large spacious graduating drawers. All of them have striking figured brass drop handles that truly highlight the craftsmanship to this 19th Century Bureau.
The bureau is standing proudly on 4 solid feet, with a raised lower boarder surrounding the bureau.
The drop front highlights the gorgeous mahogany patination to this 19th century Victorian writing desk.
Overall, this victorian writing bureau is in great condition, with obvious signs of use to the handles, pigeon holes and pull out slats. There are also signs of general veneer wear as to be expected from years of historical use (see photographs).
These minor defects are classic of a Victorian period item, and do not affect the functionality at all, it is still a charming desk.
